BEREA, Ohio (May 13, 2022) – In what was one of their final attempts to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Denison University men's and women's track & field teams traveled to compete in the Harrison Dillard Twilight track meet on Friday at Baldwin Wallace University's George Finnie Stadium.
The Big Red men's track & field team sent nine athletes to compete in 10 different events while on the women's side,
Erin Anderson and
Sophia Ellerkmann both competed in the 800 meter run. Anderson (2:15.07) would finish in sixth place while Ellerkmann (2:27.79) was 17th.
For the Denison men,
Charlie Webb finished in 10th place in the 110 meter hurdle prelims with a time of 15.57 seconds while in the 400 meter hurdles, he was fifth with a time of 55.30 seconds.
Another top-five finish for the Big Red men came from
Jack Blais in the long jump with a mark of 6.68 meters (21-11.00).
In the throws,
Chris Slater finished 13th in the hammer (50.63 meters) while
Gabe Springer was 14th in the discus (43.92 meters).
In the 100 meter dash prelims,
Ethan Scott (11.67 seconds) and
Shin Yano (11.86 seconds) finished in 28th and 29th, respectively. In the 200 meter dash, Scott (23.30 seconds) was 21st and Yano (24.75 seconds) was 30th.
