OBERLIN, Ohio (April 30, 2022) – Denison University sophomore Jacob Brown competed for the Big Red on Saturday as he took part in day one of the 2022 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Combined Events Championships held at Oberlin College. Through the first five events of the decathlon, Brown earned two event wins and set two new personal records as he currently leads the field of nine competitors with a total of 3,254 points.

Brown began the day by finishing in second place in the 100 meter dash with a new personal record time of 11.65 seconds, trailing only Wabash's Jake Oostman (11.64 seconds) by .01 seconds.

Brown proceeded to win the long jump with a mark of 6.56 meters (21-06.25), .22 meters ahead of Oostman (6.34 meters) in second.

Brown then won his second event in a row with a personal record toss of 11.61 meters (38-01.25) in the shot put, again beating out Oostman (11.28 meters) in second, this time by a margin of .33 meters.

Brown closed out the day with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.80 meters) and a seventh-place finish in the 400 meter dash (54.67 seconds).

NEXT UP: Brown will return for day two of the NCAC decathlon on Sunday, May 1, when he competes in the 110 meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1,500 meter run.
