GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 13, 2022) – The Denison University men's track & field team won 13 of the 17 events on Wednesday evening to take down the College of Wooster 98-74 in a traditional dual meet for outdoor track & field in Granville, Ohio.
Each of Denison's event wins came from 11 different individuals and two relay groups.
Opening the day in the field events, Denison earned wins from
Grant Plasch in the pole vault (3.50 meters),
Gabe Springer in the discus (47.15 meters),
Chris Slater in the hammer (54.66 meters),
Collin Hill in the shot put (14.32 meters),
Andrew D'Asaro in the javelin (52.94 meters) and
Jacob Brown in the high jump (1.81 meters).
In the shot put, Denison swept the top-four spots as behind Hill,
Owen Mathes (12.91 meters) was second, Springer (12.75 meters) was third and Slater (12.27 meters) was fourth.
On the track, however, is where the Big Red really shined as they won each of the first three events and seven of nine overall.
It started with a win and a time of 43.52 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay by
Ethan Scott,
Malik Holley,
Travis Dunson and
Seven Lindsey.
Will Cunningham (4:13.55) and
Matt Bonner (4:17.37) then finished first and second in the 1,500 meter run, respectively, before
Ari Skolnik won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.29 seconds.
In the 100 meter dash, Denison swept the top-10 spots, being paced by Lindsey in first with a time of 11.07 seconds and Holley in second at 11.10 seconds. Denison also swept the top-six spots in the 200 meter dash, led by Holley at 22.60 seconds with Lindsey following in second at 22.63 seconds.
In the 800 meter run, the Big Red took the top-four spots as
Calvin Bailey (1:58.81) was first,
Zackary Johnston (1:59.79) was second,
Worth Hinshaw (2:01.10) was third and
Tomas Brockett-Delgado (2:03.08) was fourth.
In the final track event of the night, Holley,
Jack Blais, Bailey and
Matt Bonner worked together to win the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:34.69.
