DELAWARE, Ohio (April 10, 2022) – Denison University men's track & field landed five event titles and nine more top-five finishes on Saturday, April 9, as they placed fourth overall at the 2022 Marv Frye Invitational held at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Totaling 105 team points, the Big Red finished 54 points ahead of the next closest team, but were six points behind Wilmington University (111 points) in third. Albion College garnered the team title with 142 points while Calvin College was second with 127.50 points.
Junior
Charlie Webb accounted for two of Denison's titles as he won both the 110 meter hurdles (15.47 seconds) and the 400 meter hurdles (57.49 seconds).
Fellow-junior
Gabe Springer won the discus with a toss of 47.27 meters while the Big Red's other two championships both came from a pair of freshman.
Malik Holley won the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.91 seconds while
Andrew D'Asaro won the javelin with a long throw of 52.19 meters.
In addition to his performance in the 400 meter dash, Holley also added a fifth-place finish in the 200 meter dash (22.89 seconds). Meanwhile behind Webb in the 110 meter hurdles,
Ari Skolnik added a fifth-place finish himself with a time of 16.86 seconds.
Coming off his strong Denison track & field debut at the VertKlasse Meeting last weekend, freshman
Tyler Miller took second place in the high jump this weekend with a maximum height of 1.93 meters.
Also in the jumps, junior
Angelo Ricci was fourth in the long jump at 6.33 meters.
Denison earned two other fourth-place finishes on the track from senior
Seven Lindsey in the 200 meter dash (22.70 seconds) and from sophomore
Worth Hinshaw in the 5,000 meter run (15:33.23). Additionally, Lindsey added a sixth-place finish in the 100 meter dash at 11.38 seconds.
The Big Red earned a trio of top-10 finishes in the 1,500 meter run as senior
Zackary Johnston (4:10.10) finished in third place while sophomore
Will Cunningham (4:14.97) took eighth and freshman
Calvin Bailey (4:16.12) was 10th.
Denison's top relay performance of the day was a second-place finish by
Daniel DeSantis, Holley,
Travis Dunson and Lindsey in the 4x100 meter relay (43.65 seconds).

NEXT UP: The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday, April 13, when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet. Field events will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the track events at 5 p.m. at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium. Then on Saturday, April 16, the Big Red will head back to Ohio Wesleyan for the 2022 All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
