INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 18, 2022) – With six events to go on Saturday, only 4.5 points separate first-place Kenyon from the third-place Denison University Big Red. Kenyon leads it with 311 points and Emory is in second with 307 points, only half a point in front of Denison with 306.5 points.
Denison's first qualifier for the finals on Friday came in the 100 backstroke as
Annalise Cheshire finished fifth in the prelims with a time of 55.60 seconds before also taking fifth in the A Final with an improved time of 55.31 seconds.
Then in the 100 breaststroke prelims, the Big Red notched another qualifier for an A Final as
Christina Crane finished eighth with a time of 1:02.98. Then in the finals, Crane made a nice jump up to sixth place after swimming an improved time of 1:02.80.
Denison made its biggest splash of the night in the 800 freestyle relay, taking home the silver in second place with a final time of 7:19.25 thanks to the efforts of
Tara Culibrk,
Taryn Wisner,
Alix O'Brien and
Esme Wright.
Denison will close out the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday with finals in the 1,650 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 3-meter dive and the 400 freestyle relay. Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m.
