Jacob Brown wins All-Ohio Indoor Heptathlon

GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 6, 2022) – Sophomore Jacob Brown represented the Denison University men's track & field team on Sunday afternoon as he finished first overall in the heptathlon competition at the 2022 All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Combined Events Championships hosted at the Mitchell Fieldhouse.

jacob-brown-all-ohio-indoor-HeptathlonTotaling a school-record 4,226 points over seven events across two days, Brown won four of the events and finished 310 points ahead of Mount Union's Aaron Blevins (3,916) in second and was 1,220 points in front of Allegheny's Matthew Reynolds (3006) in third.

During day one of competition on Saturday, Brown won three of the four events for a total of 2,500 points. He placed first in the 60 meter dash (7.45 seconds), the long jump (6.23 meters; 20-05.25) and the shot put (11.31 meters; 37-01.25), and was second in the high jump (1.73 meters; 5-08.00) behind Blevins (1.88 meters; 6-02.00).

Then on Sunday, Brown was second in the 60 meter hurdles (9.03 seconds) behind Blevins (8.92 seconds), was second in the pole vault (2.74 meters; 8-11.75) behind Reynolds (3.04 meters; 9-11.75), and then won the final event of the competition, the 1,000 meter run, with a time of 2:57.32.

NEXT UP: Brown and the rest of the Big Red will return to action next Friday, February 11, when the Big Red travel to Delaware, Ohio, to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Open.
