GAMBIER, Ohio (February 19, 2022) – In their final tune-up before next month's NCAA Division III Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana, the No. 3 Denison University women' swimming & diving team competed at the Kenyon Fast Chance Invitational.
Leading the way for the Big Red was
Annie Pfeufer,
Emma Berdelman,
Lauren Richner and
Devin Javens, who each earned first place and improved upon their times with NCAA Division III National "B' cuts in their respective events.
Pfeufer finished first in the 200 freestyle with a National "B" cut time of 1:51.06 before swimming an even better time of 1:51.01 in the time trial. Berdleman finished first and reached a National "B" cut time in the 200 butterfly at 2:03.14. Richer improved her time in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 56.23 seconds, and Javens did the same with a time of 1:04.19 in the 100 breaststroke.
Lauren Young finished first in the 50 freestyle at 24.00 seconds.
Grace Kacmarek swam a National "B"Â cut time of 4:27.16 to finish second in the 400 IM.
In the 100 butterfly,
Maja Palmroos won it with a National "B" cut time of 56.48 seconds while
Amber Croonquist was second with a time of 57.10 seconds.
Ali Burns finished behind Pfeufer in the 200 freestyle, doing so with a time of 1:52.86; and
Olivia Lantry finished second behind Javens in the 100 breaststroke while swimming a National "B' cut time herself at 1:04.55 before improving her time to 1:04.47 in the time trial.
Pfeufer (51.96) and
Avery Vogen (52.25) finished 1-2 in the 100 freestyle.
Claire Moody swam a National "B" cut time of 2:06.20 in the 200 backstroke.
Zoe Barclay was second in the 200 breaststroke at 2:23.34.
Rebecca Martin swam a National "B" cut time of 4:29.93 in the time trial of the 400 IM; and
Becca Taylor exactly matched the "B" cut time of 56.58 seconds in the time trial for the 100 butterfly.
In the time trial for the 200 breaststroke, Javens (2:19.16) and Lantry (2:21.51) both reached National "B" cuts.
Kacmarek reached a National "B" cut in the time trial of the 400 IM at 4:27.88, and Berdleman did the same in the 100 butterfly at 56.00 seconds.
Denison returns to action on March 16-19 at the NCAA Division III Championship. The Denison divers will be in action on February 25-26 at the NCAA Diving Regional that will be hosted by Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
