SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (December 3, 2022) – The 2022-23 Denison University indoor men's track & field season opened on Saturday at the Tiger Open.
The top finishers on the day for the Big Red were
Ari Skolnik (60 meter hurdle finals; 8.65 seconds) and
Liam Quinlan (high jump; 1.84 meters), who both finished in third place in their respective events.
In addition,
Jason Spino (pole vault; 3.57 meters) and
Justin Tharayil (high jump; 1.79 meters) both finished in fourth place in their respective events while
Nathan Hydukovich finished in fifth place in the 400 meter dash (50.81 seconds) and Tharayil added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump (12.34 meters).
In the throws,
Chris Slater finished in seventh place in both the weight throw (14.93 meters) and the shot put (13.28 meters) while in the jumps,
Angelo Ricci was eighth in the long jump (6.23 meters),
Hilton Sanchez was ninth in the long jump (6.09 meters), and
Dagne Auditore was ninth in the high jump (1.74 meters).
Last but not least,
Malik Holley finished seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.06 seconds.

OILER OPENER: Denison's
Jacob Brown competed in the Oiler Opener hosted by the University of Findlay. After finishing day one on Thursday, December 1, in second place with 2,004 points, trailing only Josiah Gadson (2,225 points) from Tiffin University, Brown was unable to finish the final three events on Friday, December 2. In the events he did compete in on Thursday, Brown finished sixth in the 60 meter dash (7.45 seconds), fourth in the long jump (6.45 meters), second in the shot put (11.71 meters) and tied for seventh in the high jump (1.68 meters).
NEXT UP: Denison will return to action on Saturday, January 14, when it travels to New Concord, Ohio, to compete in the Muskie Meet.
