WOOSTER, Ohio (January 27, 2022) – The Denison University men's track & field team tallied six wins in 14 events, but in the end, the Big Red fell only one point shy of the Fighting Scots, 74-73, to place second overall in a traditional dual meet held at the College of Wooster on Thursday evening.
The Big Red found themselves leading by the slimmest of margins (70-69) heading into the final event of the night, the 4x400 meter relay, but unfortunately, the Denison "A" team came up just short by 0.36 seconds to the Wooster "A" team.
In the event right before the 4x400, the 200 meter dash, Denison took the previously mentioned one-point lead thanks to a win by
Malik Holley (23.65 seconds) and a third-place finish by
Ethan Scott (24.24 seconds).
Up to eight points and two point scorers were available per team in each event other than in the relay races. The Big Red claimed the maximum number of points in the shot put, the mile and the 60 meter hurdles.
Charlie Webb (8.87 seconds) and
Ari Skolnik (9.46 seconds) finished first and second, respectively, in the 60 meter hurdles while
Collin Hill (13.20 meters),
