MEADVILLE, Pa. – Denison men's track & field tallied seven individual victories on Friday afternoon as the Big Red placed third overall at the Marty Goldberg Invitational hosted by Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. Finishing with a team score of 91, Denison trailed second place Wooster with 124 points while meet host Allegheny won the team title with 145 points.
- On the track, the Big Red tallied five of their seven event titles, including a trio of victories from sophomore hurdler Charlie Webb. In the 110-meter hurdles, Webb took first overall after clocking in at 15.39. He then took medalist honors in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in 56.47. Webb also joined Millan Henegar, Lance Tobasky, and Benjamin Rumsfeld in the 4X400-meter relay, winning the event in 3:37.80. Henegar also took first overall in the 800-meter run with a final time of 2:01.39 and Zackary Johnston won the 3,000-meter steeple chase in 10:03.65. Rumsfeld added a third-place finish in the 400-meter run (57.67) and Worth Hinshaw placed second overall in the 5,000-meter run (15:53.15).
- In the field events, Gabe Springer and Austin Burgess led the charge in the throwing events after each individual took home an event title. In the discus, Springer took first overall after reaching a final mark of 142'1" (43.32 meters), which checks in as the sixth-best personal record in school history. Burgess then won the hammer throw with a final distance of 136'11" (41.73 meters) and Springer followed in third at 126'1" (38.44 meters). The pair then earned top-three honors in the shot put with Burgess taking second overall (39'6.50") and Springer following in third (35'3.75"). In the pole vault, Isaiah Kessler placed second overall with a mark of 12'11.50" (3.95 meters).
Denison will return to action next Friday, April 30 when they host their final Quad Meet of the season at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville. Field events will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the running events to follow at 6 p.m.
