DELAWARE, Ohio – Finishing the day with seven event titles, Denison men's track & field placed third overall at Ohio Wesleyan's annual Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware. Checking in with a team score of 48, the Big Red finished ahead of fourth-place Wooster (41) and just three points behind Allegheny (51) in second place. Meet-host Ohio Wesleyan placed first overall with 74 team points.
- On the track, the Big Red tallied five of their seven event titles on the day, including a pair of individual victories for sophomore Charlie Webb and junior Seven Lindsey. Continuing his dominance in the hurdle events so far in 2021, Webb opened the day with a win the 110-meter hurdles, where he clocked in with the sixth-fastest personal record in school history at 15.21. In the 400-meter hurdles, Webb tallied his second victory of the day when he crossed the finish line at 56.33. Lindsey also displayed his dominance on Saturday, winning the 100 and 200-meter dash for DU. In the 100, Lindsey led the pack with a final mark of 11.07 to place first overall. He also won gold in the 200 after clocking in at 22.10, his second win of the day. Lindsey also joined Angelo Ricci, Isaiah Kessler, and Grant Plasch in the 4X100-meter relay to finish second overall and secure the eighth-fastest PR in program history at 43.54 seconds.
- In the distance events, junior Zackary Johnston paced the field in the 3,000-meter steeple chase with a first-place time of 10:26.21. In the 800-meter run, Millan Henegar earned a second-place finish after clocking in at 2:00.96.
- In the field events, Denison added two more individual victories on the day, including a win from Ricci in the long jump and Ian Thompson in the high jump. In the long jump, Ricci placed first overall after posting a maximum leap of 20'11.75" (6.39 meters). In the high jump, Thompson garnered an individual title after reaching 6' (1.83 meters). Jacob Brown followed in fourth place at 5'10" (1.78 meters).
- In the throwing events, Austin Burgess and Gabe Springer led the charge for DU. In the hammer throw, Burgess tallied the second-best PR in school history with a second-place toss of 145'5" (44.33 meters) and Springer logged the program's sixth-best PR with a seventh-place finish at 123' (37.49 meters). In the shot put, Burgess took fourth at 39'3.25" (11.97 meters) and Springer followed in fifth at 38'2" (11.63 meters). Springer also competed in the discus and placed third with a toss of 131'10" (40.18 meters).
The Big Red will return to Ohio Wesleyan next Thursday, April 15 when they compete in the OWU Twilight Meet in Delaware, Ohio.
