GRANVILLE, Ohio— The Denison women's swimming & diving team returned to action on Saturday afternoon at the Trumbull Aquatics Center. The Big Red were slated to compete against Youngstown State but the Penguins were not able to make the trip so the Big Red were left to compete against the clock.
Lily Kernaghan led Denison with three victories as she finished first in the 100 backstroke (59.15), 100 free (53.86) and was a part of the winning 400 free relay.
Maddie Hopkins was also a three-time winner as she touched first in the 50 free (24.20), the 100 fly (56.90) and was a part of the 400 free relay along with Kernaghan,
Tara Culibrk, and
Mia Chiappe. Culibrk was DU's third, three-time winner as she posted a win in the 500 free (5:14.63) and the 200 free in 1:55.58.
Esme Wright won the 200 IM in 2:10.54 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.77. Other winners for Denison included
Nikki Barnas (1000 free – 10:52.02),
Olivia Lantry (100 breast – 1:09.69),
Emma Berdelman (200 fly – 2:11.88),
Mattie Stauss (1-meter dive – 246.30),
Grace Kacmarek (200 back – 2:09.60), and
Maggie Seftenberg (3-meter dive – 226:65).
The Big Red's next event will be on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they host Xavier University at 1 p.m.
