GRANVILLE, Ohio (December 8, 2021) – Denison University football tied its program-best with four players on the 2021 D3football.com All-Region 4 teams. Senior left tackle
Trey Dawkins, junior left guard
Kevin Stone and sophomore linebacker
Jeff Moore were each second-team all-region while fifth-year corner back
Cory Swartzmiller received third-team accolades.
Dawkins started all 10 games at left tackle while Stone started all 10 games (9 at left guard, 1 at right tackle) on the season as well. Both offensive linemen helped Denison rush for 2,112 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Denison offensive line ranked eighth in the country in sacks allowed and was second in the country in tackles for loss allowed. The Big Red rushing attack also led the conference in every rushing category, including total rushing yards, rushing yards per game, rushing yards per attempt and rushing touchdowns, and was 30th in all of NCAA Division III in rushing yards per game.
Moore started all 10 games, led the Big Red with 93 total tackles, and was third on the team with six tackles for loss. In addition to leading the NCAC in total tackles and tackles per game (9.3), Moore was 43rd in all of NCAA Division III in tackles per game.
Swartzmiller started all 10 games and finished the season with 30 total tackles and a team-high 10 pass breakups. In all of the NCAC, Swartzmiller was tied for second in pass breakups.
It was the second full season in a row Denison football had four players earn D3football.com all-region accolades, and it was the 17th year D3football.com has announced all-region teams. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. The teams, selected in balloting by Region 4 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 161 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 77 players were chosen. Players nominated for all-region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of December 17, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVIII.
