Big Red earns OT victory over Generals

Box Score

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Madeleine Hunt scored the game-winning goal 2:01 into the first overtime, resulting in a 1-0 victory for Denison over Washington and Lee.

Despite outshooting the Generals 13-2 in regulation the Big Red failed to put one in the back of the cage.  Charlotte Godfrey was active, accounting for 12 of the Big Red's 17 shot attempts in the game.  Generals goalie Sara Amil finished with six assists on the day.

In the fourth quarter, W&L put some pressure on Denison, placing two shots-on-goal.  The final shot came with two seconds remaining and had to be saved by Big Red keeper, Teya Adams.

Overtime was all Big Red as they began a series of penalty corners followed by shot attempts over the first two minutes of play.  The game was put away when Godfrey's shot was blocked over the Generals goalie and Hunt was there to tap the ball into the open cage.

Denison improves to 3-1 while Washington and Lee dropped to 1-3.  The Big Red open North Coast Athletic Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a 5 p.m. contest with Wittenberg.
