NAPERVILLE, Ill. - In their final attempt to qualify for nationals in two weeks, Denison men's track & field travelled to North Central College on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the first day of action at the 2019 Gregory Invitational held in Naperville, Ill.
The Big Red were led by junior Ryan Fleming who placed third overall in the high jump after reaching a new outdoor personal record at 6'5" (1.96 meters). Denison's success in the field events continued with fellow junior Austin McManus who tallied a pair of top-10 finishes in the hammer throw and the discus. In the hammer throw, McManus placed ninth overall after reaching a mark of 132'7" (40.41 meters). In the discus, he posted a seventh-place finish at 119'5" (36.41 meters).
On the track, sophomore Adam Cromwell led the way for DU in 31st place after clocking in with a new PR at 15:38.93. Freshman Keanan Ginell followed at 16:40.07.
The Big Red will return to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Thursday for the final day of competition at the Gregory Invitational.
