OBERLIN, Ohio – Denison's James Dixie placed fourth overall in the decathlon at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship held at Oberlin College on Sunday afternoon. Posting a new personal record score of 5,325, Dixie landed 72 points behind Hunter Baehl from Wabash in third place (5,397), while Oberlin's Adriano Atallah won the event with a total score of 6,210.
Finishing the day with a trio of finishes in the top-three, Dixie's best showing came in the pole vault where he finished in a three-way tie for third on a personal best mark of 10'3.50" (3.14 meters). He also set a new PR in the 110-meter hurdles where placed third overall at 16.11. Dixie earned a final third place finish in the javelin where the junior reached 139'6" (42.53 meters).
Dixie also tallied a pair of fifth-place finishes in the discus throw and the 1,500-meter run. In the discus, Dixie tallied a distance of 76'7" (23.35 meters). In the 1,500, he clocked in at 5:09.55.
Dixie and the Big Red will return to action next Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, when they compete in the 2019 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
