OBERLIN, Ohio - Denison men's track & field junior James Dixie currently sits in fifth place in the decathlon after the first day of action at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship hosted at Oberlin College. Totalling 2,894 points through the first five events, Dixie trails Wooster's Jordan Dennis in fourth place by 17 points (2,911). Oberlin's Adriano Atallah sits atop the leaderboard with 3,494 points.

Posting three finishes in the top five, Dixie's best showing of the day came in the long jump where the junior reached a mark of 20'10" (6.35 meters). In the high jump, Dixie tied for fourth place on a height of 5'7" (1.70 meters). He also took fifth overall in the shot put with a throw of 32'11.75" (10.05 meters).

On the track, Dixie set new personal records in the 100 and 400-meter dashes, clocking in at 11.82 to place seventh overall in the 100 before posting a 57.30 in 400 to take eighth place.

Dixie will return for day two of the NCAC decathlon on Sunday, April 28 when he competes in the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1,500-meter run.
