Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison women's lacrosse won its 10th straight game and head coach Amanda Daniels became the program's all-time leader in wins after a 20-9 victory over John Carroll on Wednesday night at Piper Stadium.
In only her sixth season as Denison's head coach, Daniels has posted an impressive record of 81-28 (.743) with five-straight North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championships and five-straight appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Daniels passes Stephani Schmidt who posted a record of 80-68 (.541) from 2001-10.
Denison reached 20 goals for the seventh time this season, but it took a little time. John Carroll scored the first goal of the game and after 12 minutes the Big Red was clinging to a 6-4 lead.
Over the final 10 minutes of the first half, the Big Red outscored JCU 5-2 to take an 11-6 lead into halftime. Liza Farnham scored all five of her goals in the first half.
In the second half, Denison put the game out of reach by scoring four goals in the first 10 minutes of the period. With 11:30 left in the game, Graham McIntosh's goal put the Big Red on top by 10 goals, marking the seventh time DU has forced a continuous running clock situation this season.
Charlotte Godfrey was outstanding on defense for the Big Red. She totaled five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Jane Goodspeed tallied four caused turnovers, seven draw controls, and three ground balls. Paris Healey added four ground balls and Lindsey Karsh stuffed the stat sheet with three goals, two assists, three ground balls, three draw controls, and one caused turnover.
Kiely Noonan scored three goals and one assist while matching Goodspeed with three draw controls.
Both goalies turned in strong performances as Denison's Hannah Magarian reached double figures in saves for the fourth time this season, finishing with 10. JCU's Elyssa Zablo totaled 14 saves while facing 34 shots.
Farnham's five goals and eight points were both new career highs.
Denison's next opponent will be Wednesday (April 24) when they travel to No. 9 York (Pa.) for a 4 p.m. contest. They wrap up NCAC play on Saturday (April 27) against Kenyon College at 1 p.m.
