Women’s Lacrosse Heads to Salisbury for NCAA Regional Tournament

Salisbury, Maryland - The Denison women's lacrosse team will travel east to Salisbury, Maryland for the NCAA Tournament Regional to take on Christopher Newport on Saturday, May 16 at 2 pm.

Denison (19-1) continues their run into the postseason after defeating Carthage College 20-7 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. They advance to the Round of 16 and will face off against Christopher Newport for the second time this season. The Big Red make their eighth-consecutive appearance in the Sweet 16, and 12th appearance overall. Denison is ranked fifth in NPI, while CNU is #19.

The Captains (15-6) made the trip to Granville earlier in the season for a top-20 matchup, and the Big Red came out on top in a 16-7 victory. Denison outscored CNU 6-0 in the second quarter for the win, and Bridget Sheehy, Madison Goldstein, Addie Clift, and Finlay Harmon all recorded hat tricks to power the offensive end. This will be the first meeting between the two squads in the NCAA Tournament, and will be the fifth overall with Denison leading 3-1.

The other matchup will feature host Salisbury against York in another rematch of top-ranked teams. The Sea Gulls bested the Spartans earlier in the season 14-10 in a pivotal top-10 matchup. Salisbury enters with an undefeated record at 17-0 and second in NPI, while York is 15-4 and 14th. The winner of the two will play against the winner of Denison and Christopher Newport on Sunday, May 17th at 1 pm.

The semifinals and championship game will be played in Rochester, New York on the campus of RIT, with semifinals games coming on Friday, May 22, and the championship game on Sunday, May 24.
