Box Score WOOSTER, Ohio-- In a matchup of last year's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, Denison opened by scoring the first seven goals of the contest. The result was a 14-6 win over the College of Wooster at John P. Papp Stadium.
With the win, Denison improves to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the NCAC. For Wooster, it marked their first blemish of the season as they drop to 10-1 and 2-1 in conference play.
Big Red junior attacker Kiely Noonan asserted herself early on with three of her team-high four goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Fighting Scots took six of the 10 draws in the first half but turnovers were a problem for the home team. Wooster committed 18 turnovers in the first half and 31 turnovers in the game and 14 of those turnovers were caused by a Denison defender. Charlotte Godfrey led DU with four caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Jane Goodspeed controlled nine draws with four ground balls and Lindsey Karsh totaled three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Noonan led all players with four goals and two assists on nine shots. Maddy Heher and Hope Adams scored two goals apiece. Godfrey, Casey McTague, Karsh, Molly Fischer, Virginia Hamilton, and Liza Farnham scored the remaining six goals for DU.
Hannah Magarian posted five saves in 60 minutes. Katie Schideler turned in 12 saves for Wooster.
Denison returns to Granville on Saturday (April 13) for a 3 p.m. matchup with DePauw at Piper Stadium.
