GAMBIER, Ohio – After totaling 2,421 points on Saturday, junior James Dixie returned to the Kenyon Athletic Center for the second day of action at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship where he placed third overall and set a new school record in the heptathlon. 

Finishing with a new career-high and school record 4,100 points, Dixie edged out Wooster's Jordan Dennis for All-Conference honors in fourth place with 4,041 and finished 247 points shy of Adriano Atallah of Oberlin in second place (4,347). Ohio Wesleyan's Jayson Blankenship captured the heptathlon title with 4,450 points. Dixie's 4,100 points passed Wallace Branche for the single most post in program history for the heptathlon.

Dixie's second-day performances were led by a fifth-place showing in the 60-meter hurdles where he set a new personal record with a time of 9.17. He also set a new PR in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in eighth place at 3:06.61.

In the pole vault, Dixie finished in a four-way tie for sixth place with a final mark of 10' (3.05 meters).

Dixie and the Big Red will return to action this Friday and Saturday, March 1-2 when they travel to the College of Wooster to take part in the 2019 NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship.
