GAMBIER, Ohio – Led by a pair of top two finishes in the long jump and high jump events, Denison junior James Dixie currently sits in second place of the heptathlon at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship hosted at the Kenyon Athletic Center in Gambier.

Compiling 2,421 points after the first day of action, Dixie currently trails Oberlin's Adriano Atallah for the lead at 2,514 points. Max Bigler of Wabash follows in third (2,344) and Wooster's Jordan Dennis sits in fourth (2,302).

Dixie's best finish of the day came in the long jump event where the junior finished first overall on a winning mark of 21'0.75" (6.42 meters). Atallah finished .06 meters behind Dixie at 6.36 meters (20'10.50") in second place.

In the high jump, Dixie took second overall after reaching a height of 5'9.25" (1.76 meters), helping him garner 593 points.

Dixie rounded out the competition with a fourth-place finish in the shot put at 33'0.50" (10.07 meters) and came in ninth in the 60-meter dash on a final time of 7.67.

Dixie will return to action on Sunday for day two of the NCAC's heptathlon where he will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run. The events will start at 1:15 p.m.
