Big Red set for Wooster rematch in NCAC Semifinal

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Following an 8-6-4 finish in the regular season and a 5-2-1 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference, Denison women's soccer enters the 2019 NCAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Big Red will open tournament play on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when they travel to the second-seeded College of Wooster for a regular-season finale rematch at 2 p.m.

Denison will look for redemption against the Scots who defeated the Big Red 2-0 this past Saturday at Barclay-Thomsen Field. Wooster's Mila Zunich and Miura Wiley tallied a pair of early second-half goals that helped the Scots earn the No. 2 seed in this week's tournament.

The Big Red are making their eighth-consecutive appearance in the NCAC Tournament and the program's 19th overall. Ranked as the second-best scoring offense in the NCAC with 28 goals, Denison is led by sophomore Abby King who has tallied a team-best eight goals and 18 points during her breakout season in 2019. Her eight goals are also tied for second-most in the conference. Seniors Logan Agin and Claire Kolff and sophomore Amy Chiero have assisted King on the scoring front, recording three goals each while Chiero and Kolff have also added two assists apiece.

On the other side of the field, Denison's backline comprised of Kate Dannemiller, Katie Livingston, Emma Phinney, and Dulcie Heyes has helped sophomore goalkeeper Patil Tcholakian post seven shutouts in 2019 while recording a save percentage of .833. DU's defensive effort also headlined their six-match undefeated streak from Sept. 25 through Oct. 23 when they outscored their opponents 13-2.

The winner of the Denison-Wooster semifinal will face the winner of the No. 1 DePauw vs. No. 4 Kenyon semifinal in the championship on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the home field of the highest remaining seed. The DePauw-Kenyon matchup is also a rematch of their regular-season finale when DePauw's Alex Berkley broke the scoreless tie in the 90th minute to earn a 1-0 victory and give the Tigers their second NCAC title since joining the league in 2011.

Tickets for Wednesday's NCAC Tournament match at Wooster are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18-and-under).  College students from NCAC institutions with a valid school ID are admitted free of charge. Wooster will also provide a live video stream and live stats for the semifinal contest.
