GRANVILLE, Ohio – Thanks to a career-high 18 points from senior Lily Morris, Denison women's basketball earned their fourth-straight win to start the 2019-20 season after posting a 67-50 victory over John Carroll University on Wednesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium.

In the first-ever meeting between the two programs, the Big Red impressed with 42 points off the bench while turning 24 Blue Streak turnovers into 23 points. They also outscored John Carroll 19-9 in the second quarter to build a 16-point advantage at the half.

After JCU opened with an early 6-2 lead on Denison, the Big Red followed with a bucket from Zyah Beal and five-straight points from Addie Buzas to take a 9-6 lead. Baskets from Beal, Alison Schafer, and Morris helped DU finish the quarter on a 7-4 scoring run as they entered the second period leading 16-10.

Denison's 19-9 run in the second quarter was highlighted by 10 points from Schafer, including one of her two three-pointers at 1:15 before the break to put the Big Red ahead 35-19 at the half.

Early second-half buckets from Olivia Nagy and Abby Adler trimmed the DU lead to 35-25 with less than eight minutes to play in the third, but back-to-back field goals from Kat Williams and Shonta Lockett helped fuel an 18-13 scoring run for the Big Red that saw Morris and Lauren Longbrake combine for 12 points.

Leading 53-38 entering the final quarter, Morris scored six of DU's 14 points in the frame as the Big Red moved to 4-0 to start the season for the first time since 2010-11. The loss dropped JCU to 2-1 so far this season.

Morris led all scorers with 18 points on 6-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-8 from the perimeter. She also added four steals and two rebounds to her record day. Schafer followed with 12 points, six boards, and two steals while Longbrake tallied 12 points, six rebounds, and a block in 19 minutes of action.
