OBERLIN, Ohio -- Sophomore James Dixie returned for day two of the North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championships where he placed fourth overall in the decathlon at Oberlin College on Sunday afternoon. With a combined 5,194 points, Dixie finished just seven points behind Wabash's Angus Edmundson (5,201) in third place. Ohio Wesleyan's Nate Newman won the event for the second-straight year, collecting 6,832 points.
After leaving the first day of competition in fifth place, Dixie earned his best day-two performance in the javelin throw, winning the event with a launch of 152'11" (46.62 meters). In the 110-meter hurdles, he recorded a new personal-best time of 16.35 to finish in fourth place.
Dixie also garnered a pair of sixth place finishes, reaching a height of 9'4.25" (2.85 meters) in the pole vault and clocking in at 5:04.20 in the 1,500-meter run.
The discus event rounded out Dixie's performance in the decathlon, landing in seventh place with a 78'7" (23.97 meters).
Dixie will join the rest of the Denison men's track and field team this Friday through Saturday, May 4-5, at the NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.
