OBERLIN, Ohio – With three, top-four finishes under his belt after day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Combined Events Championships, sophomore James Dixie is currently placed fifth overall at this year's decathlon being held at Oberlin College.

Arguably his strongest event in the decathlon, Dixie set a new personal record in the long jump event, placing third with a leap of 20'5.75" (6.24 meters). He also garnered a new PR in the shot-put event, placing fourth overall with a throw of 31'6.75" (9.62 meters).

In the high jump event, Dixie tied for fourth place with Oberlin's Adriano Atallah at a height of 5'5.75" (1.67 meters).

On the track, Dixie earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (57.39) and his time of 12.11 in the 100-meter dash placed him eighth overall.

Dixie will return for the second day of the decathlon on Sunday, April 29 at Oberlin's Kahn Track & Shults Field.
