GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Denison men's track and field hosted the 2018 Big Red Invitational on Friday evening at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio, tallying nine personal records and two individual victories.

Leading the way for DU was sophomore Bryce Stricker who, once again, broke his own school record in the hammer throw event, posting a distance of 171'7" (52.29 meters). Austin McManus would follow in 10th place on a throw of 130'7" (39.81 meters) and Austin Burgess placed 16th overall on a new PR throw of 110'9" (33.75 meters). McManus would also compete in the discus with an 11th place finish (112'2") and a 39'3" from Burgess in the shot put would place him in 10th.

Continuing the winning trend in the field events was Ryan Fleming in the high jump event, posting a first-place finish and a new personal-best height of 6'4.75". He also took part in the javelin throw, reaching a mark of 137'6" (41.93 meters) to finish in sixth.

Rounding out the field competitors was Jake Coplin who finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20'3.75" (6.19 meters), and Alex Chin followed in sixth with a PR jump of 19'9.75" (6.04 meters).

On the track, Coplin would join Dee Brown, Isaac Andrews and Jack Ruddy in the 4X100 meter relay to place second with a time of 44.98. At the end of the night, Andrews and Ruddy teamed up with Niall Clancey and Ben Foster in the 4X400 meter relay to log a time of 3:28.25 in third place. Ruddy would also take second in the 400-meter hurdles (58.46), while Andrews' 22.99 placed him second overall in the 200-meter dash. Brown would follow in 12th place (24.27).

In the 800 meter run, Foster posted a new personal record of 1:57.36 to finish in second, and Clancey's 1:59.29 landed him in eighth.

The personal records would continue to fall in the distance events, starting with a new PR from Clayton Watters in the 1,500-meter run, placing fourth with a time of 4:12.90. Freshman Adam Cromwell also enjoyed a new personal-best time in fifth place (4:14.49). Patrick Manglano's 4:54.93 would place him 25th overall and Henri Hegemier followed in 28th place (5:06.06).

In the 3,000 meter run, Rhys Fitschen-Brown would also collect a new PR, finishing the race in second place with a 9:15.09.

The Big Red will return to action on Saturday, April 28 when sophomore James Dixie represents the program at the 2018 NCAC Combined Events Championship at Oberlin College.
