Women's Lacrosse makes short work of Wooster

Box Score

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Denison's North Coast Athletic Conference winning streak extended to 26 games after a 20-6 victory over the College of Wooster at Piper Stadium.  With the win, Denison improves to 10-2 and 5-0 in conference play.  Through five NCAC contests, the Big Red has dominated, outscoring the opposition, 97-31 for an average final score of 19-6.

On Saturday, the Big Red poured in 10-straight goals in the first 14 minutes of play.  Kiely Noonan, Halle Walsh, and Leah Israel accounted for seven of the 10 goals to start the game.

A yellow card on Denison with 16:05 left in the first half gave Wooster a one-player advantage and they made it count with a free-position goal from Emma Lawrence.

The Big Red bounced back with four more goals to enter halftime with a commanding 14-2 lead.  In the second half, the game was played through the heavy rain but that barely slowed down Denison offense.   They outscored the Fighting Scots 6-4 over the final 30 minutes with a continuous clock to leave with a 14-goal victory.

Israel and Noonan each finished with four goals.  Noonan also led the squad with six draw controls.  Junior defender Jane Goodspeed continued her strong campaign with four caused turnovers, four draw controls, and three ground balls.  She ranks in the top five in the NCAC in caused turnovers and ground balls.

Also getting into the scoring column was Liza Farnham (2 goals, 1 assist), Claudia Rafi (2 goals, 1 assist), Maddy Heher (1 goal, 2 assists), Walsh (2 goals), Kristine McNulty, Molly Fischer, Leander Perun and Hope Adams (1 goal).

Denison goalies Becca Jones and Hannah Magarian combined for four saves with each notching a pair of saves in their respective half.

Denison will take a detour from conference action next week when they travel to Cleveland, Ohio for a 6:30 p.m. draw against John Carroll on Wednesday, April 18.
