Second half rally leads DU women past Dickinson

Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--  Denison scored eight of the game's final 10 goals to rally for a 16-12 win over Dickinson College at Natchez Field on the campus of Vanderbilt University.

The Big Red and the Red Devils were deadlocked at 10-10 with 12 minutes left in the game after Lindsey Karsh's goal knotted the score for the fifth time.  Two minutes later, Kiely Noonan followed her own shot with a ground ball and score that gave the Big Red their first lead since the first half.

Over the next minute, Denison's Jane Goodspeed controlled a pair of draws and Leah Israel and Claudia Rafi scored to lift Denison to a 13-10 lead.

A free position goal by Noonan with 5:37 to play gave Denison a four-goal cushion.  Dickinson got a pair of goals from Erika Bloes over the final four minutes but scoring plays by Maddy Heher and Rafi offset the Red Devils, setting the final at 16-12.

The Big Red scored six goals in the final 7:20 of the game. Heher led DU in scoring with four goals on seven shots.  Israel scored two goals and had one assist and a team-high seven draw controls.  Noonan and Rafi each posted two goals and one assist.  Karsh (2 goals), Virginia Hamilton (1 goal), and Kristine McNulty (1 goal) rounded out the scoring.

Dickinson (3-3) was led by Bloes' five goals on six shots.  Eleanor Kaestner scored three goals and Mack Maurer posted two goals and four draw controls.

Becca Jones got the start in goal and Hannah Magarian played the second half.  Both finished with six saves in 30 minutes of action.

Denison (4-1) held a 29-25 advantage in shots. The Big Red also won the ground ball battle, 22-16.
