Big Red compete at Kent and Kenyon

The Denison men's track and field program was represented on Saturday afternoon at the Kenyon Classic and Kent State Tune-Up where they totaled nine top-10 finishes and six personal records.

At Kenyon, the Big Red were led by Isaac Reed's top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and triple jump event. Reed placed second in the triple jump with a 42'4.25" (12.91 meters) and then fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74.

DU was also well-represented in the men's long jump when Jake Coplin took third with a distance of 20'7.25" (6.28 meters) and James Dixie followed in 10th at 18'10.50" (5.75 meters). Dee Brown landed just 1.25" behind Dixie in 11th place with a jump of 18'9.25". Brown also added a third-place finish in the 4X200 relay with Coplin, Alex Chin, and Peyton Vining when they clocked in at 1:36.30.

Clayton Watters chipped in a pair of personal-bests when he posted a 2:08.58 in the 800-meter race (22nd place) and an eighth-place finish in the one mile run with a 4:35.71. Rhys Fitschen-Brown added another top-five finish in the distance events, logging a 16:30.86 in the 5,000-meter run for fourth place.

At Kent State, junior David Carter placed 15th in the long jump with a PR distance of 21'4.75" (6.52 meters) and then finished fifth in the triple jump, posting a 46'10". Bryce Stricker placed ninth overall in the weight throw when his fourth throw went for 50'6" (15.39 meters).

Senior Zach Munn added to the effort in Kent, Ohio with a 17th place finish in the 800-meter event, checking in at 2:00.12.

The Big Red will return to Granville, Ohio this Friday through Sunday, Feb. 23-25, when they host the North Coast Athletic Conference Last Chance Meet on Friday, followed by the NCAC Combined Events Championships on Saturday-Sunday.
