Carter leads DU at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Denison men's track and field took four competitors to the 2018 All-Ohio Indoor Championships at Otterbein University on Saturday afternoon and placed 11th with 21 points out of 18 teams. Mount Union took first place with 143 points, and Case Western followed in second with 96 team points.

Leading the way for the Big Red was junior David Carter. Carter opened his day with a 14th place finish in the long jump event, posting a distance of 20'6.50" (6.26 meters). He then set a new personal record in the triple jump, winning the event with a jump of 47'3.75" (14.42 meters). Carter now ranks second in program history in indoor triple jump competition, trailing only Wallace Branche's distance of 47'4.25".

Junior Isaac Reed and sophomore James Dixie also competed in the triple jump, with Reed taking fourth place on a season-best jump of 43'0.50" (13.12 meters) and Dixie finishing in sixth with a distance of 42'4.00" (12.90 meters).

In the weight throw event, sophomore Bryce Stricker finished in 6th for DU, posting a throw of 51'11.00" (15.82 meters).

On Monday, Feb. 12, Carter and Stricker will represent Denison men's track and field at Birmingham-Southern College's 2018 'Southern Indoor Challenge in Birmingham, Ala. The meet will begin at the Birmingham CrossPlex at 9 a.m.
