TOLEDO, Ohio—Denison men's tennis opened their spring season with a 7-0 loss at Division I Toledo.
At No. 2 singles, Jamie McDonald played Vince Anzalone to a second set tiebreaker, eventually falling 6-1, 7-6 (12-10). At No. 1 singles, Toledo's Stjepan Sisko defeated Kevin Brown, 6-4, 6-3.
Positions 3-6 in singles resulted in losses for Owen Smith (6-1, 7-5), Danish Siddiquie, 6-2, 6-3, Blake Burstein, 6-2, 6-3 and Costas Alevizopoulos, 6-1, 6-2.
Denison's No. 1 doubles team of Brown and McDonald were leading Sisko and Ernie Suskathaporn 5-4 but their match was suspended after Toledo's win at third doubles clinched the point. Since the match was played at Toledo, Division I doubles rules applied.
The Big Red is back in action today when they take on Division II Findlay at 1 p.m. in Findlay, Ohio.
