Box Score Denison scored four goals in the first half and added three more in the second half, resulting in a 7-3 win over Hendrix from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Big Red rebounded nicely from Saturday's 2-0 loss to Rhodes. The offense started early when Lucy Pearsall connected with Alyssa Bahel in the fourth minute of the match. Abby Martone followed with an unassisted goal five minutes later, giving DU a two-goal lead.
Denison's third and fourth goals came from Charlotte Happel and Lucy Pearsall. Hendrix got on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute via a Sophie Mazzaro goal.
In the second half, the Big Red's goals would come from the trio of Martone, Pearsall and Bahel.
Ellen Westfall posted four saves in the cage for Denison. Hendrix goalie Gabryele Pochron racked up 16 saves while facing 23 shots-on-goal from the Denison offense. For the game, DU outshot the Warriors 31-8 while out-cornering them 17-4.
With the win, Denison improves to 1-1 while Hendrix drops to 0-2. The Big Red returns to Granville for its 2016 home opener on Saturday, September 10 when they open North Coast Athletic Conference play against Oberlin College.
