Box Score GRANVILLE-- On Friday, Denison scored four goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 win over Eastern Mennonite. Less than 24 hours later, the Big Red scored four goals in the second half to defeat Concordia-Wisconsin, 5-0 at Piper Stadium.
Denison took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Alyssa Bahel crossed to Charlotte Happel who stuffed her shot into the corner of the cage. It was just the start of a big offensive game for Happel.
Four minutes into the second half, Happel circled the ball and fired a turnaround slap shot from close range, making it a two-goal lead for the Big Red. Seven minutes later, Pearsall sent a crossing pass to the corner of the cage where Abby Martone was stationed for the re-direction. That was the fourth goal of the season for Martone.
Denison's final two scores came from Happel off an assist by Tori Rapillo, marking the first hat trick of her young career. With just under 12 minutes to play, Rapillo scored her first goal of the season in a one on one scenario with the Concordia goalie.
DU outshot Concordia 27-3 and won the penalty corner battle, 16-2. Falcons goalie Kennedy Boyer was kept busy all afternoon by the Big Red offense. She posted 14 saves while playing all 70 minutes. Her counterpart, Ellen Westfall, recorded three saves while logging her third shutout of the season.
The Big Red returns to North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 20 when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
