Box Score A goal by Wittenberg's Audrey Coler 1:44 into overtime sent the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Denison Big Red from Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio.
Trailing 1-0 at the half, Denison's Charlotte Happel tied the game in the 45th minute. Happel deposited the ball into the lower left corner of the goal after taking a short crossing pass from Alyssa Bahel.
In the 58th minute, Denison nearly took the lead when Happel's shot was saved by the glove of Wittenberg goalie, Sarah Brownell.
At the other end, Denison's Ellen Westfall posted a nifty save on Wittenberg's Riley Trexler. She dribbled through traffic and send a direct shot at Westfall who was there to turn away the Tigers with one minute left in regulation.
In overtime, Wittenberg went to work on the offensive end and Coler's shot was lifted into the air from a few steps inside the circle. The ball hit the back of the cage, crossing from right to left, handcuffing the Denison goalie in the process.
The victory improves Wittenberg's record to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Denison drops to 2-2 and 1-1 in the NCAC.
The Big Red held a 15-11 advantage in shots and a 7-5 lead in penalty corner attempts. Brownell finished with eight saves for the Tigers while Westfall finished with five for the Big Red.
