Box Score

Denison opened North Coast Athletic Conference play with a decisive 4-0 victory over Oberlin College from Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio.

The Big Red controlled the tempo early, scoring two goals in the first half.  That persistence on the offensive end continued into the second half as DU posted two more tallies on the scoreboard.

The first goal of the contest came in the 12th minute when Ali Gakenheimer passed to Charlotte Happel who fired a one-time past Oberlin goalie, Kennedy Kline.

With 15 minutes left in the opening half, Abby Martone crossed a pass to Alyssa Bahel who scored the game's second goal.  At the halftime intermission, Denison held a 10-1 advantage in shots and a 10-0 lead in penalty corner attempts.

In the second half, the Denison offense kicked it up another notch.  DU took eight shots in the first 10 minutes of the second period.  Kline was there to post saves on five of those shot attempts.

Overall, the Big Red took 15 shots in the second half before Happel scored on an empty cage after a pass from Bahel to give Denison a 3-0 lead.

The final goal came with one minute remaining off a set-piece.  Abby Martone inserted Denison's 25 penalty corner attempt of the game and Lucy Pearsall cashed in with a one-timer from the top of the circle, setting the final at 4-0.

Denison held a 28-2 advantage in the shot department.  Kline posted 14 saves for Oberlin and Ellen Westfall had one for the Big Red.
