Box Score

GAMBIER, Ohio-- Denison put the finishing touches on its most successful football season in 30 years with a 41-12 victory over Kenyon College.  The Big Red ends the year with an 8-2 record and a 7-2 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference.  Denison finished in a three-way tie for second place in the final league standings.

The Big Red jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to three turnovers by the DU defense and an efficient offensive attack led by sophomore running back Cody Farley and senior quarterback Tommy Iammarino.

In his second start of the season in place of the injured Canaan Gebele, Iammarino fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to David Weimar on the game's opening drive, giving Denison a 7-0 lead.

On Kenyon's second offensive play, Denison's Hayden Hatten forced and recovered a Thomas Merkle fumble near the Kenyon goal line.  On first down, Farley reached pay dirt from 2-yards to put Denison on top, 14-0.

After a three-and-out, Denison took over on their own 32-yard line and Farley flipped the field with a 46 yard run to the Kenyon 22.  Three completions later, Iammarino connected with Charlie Mueller for an 8-yard touchdown making it 21-0, Denison.

The rough first quarter continued for Kenyon as Merkle's first pass of their ensuing drive was intercepted by Andrew Baird and returned to the Kenyon 14-yard line.  DU's next possession resulted in a 23-yard field goal by Conor Dunn.  Denison outgained Kenyon 160-35 in the first quarter, winning the time of possession 9:37-5:23.

The Big Red defense kept Kenyon off the scoreboard throughout the second quarter.  Late in the period, Tommy Iammarino completed a 13-yard touchdown pass to his brother, Matt Iammarino that gave Denison a 31-0 lead heading into the second half.

Denison put the game way out of reach in the third quarter when the Iammarino brothers struck again, this time on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tommy to Matt to make it 38-0.

Dunn, who already became Denison's career leader in field goals made, broke the school record for longest field goal made in a game when he connected from 48 yards out with just under four minutes to play in the quarter.  The previous long field goal of 47 yards was shared by Mike Gregory and Kevin Schneider.

Farley finished with 173 yards rushing and a touchdown.  He also caught seven passes for 35 yards.  Tommy Iammarino was 22-of-31 for 175 yards and four touchdown passes.  He did not throw an interception.  Weimar had seven receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown.  Matt Iammarino hauled in four passes for 52 yards and two TDs.

The Denison defense forced three turnovers in the first quarter.  Two of those were interceptions by Baird.  He added six tackles and leaves as the program's career leader with 376 in 40 games played. Anthony Sernus led the defense with seven stops.  Alex Raynor had three tackles, one sack and four passes defended.
