Box Score Two second half goals by Rochester's Olivia Denny would be enough to spoil the Big Red's opening weekend of the 2015 season.
Denny broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute when she scored via a penalty corner. It was Michelle Relin who sent a shot at the stick of Denny who deflected the ball into the cage.
Denison nearly answered 10 seconds later when Noelle Hubbard put a shot on Rochester's goal, forcing a save by UR's Tara Lamberti.
In the 56th minute, Denny would tip in a pass from Sayaka Abe at the left post of the goal, giving the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead.
The Big Red were held to five shots in the contest. All five shots were on-cage as Lamberti finished with five saves. Denison goalie Ellen Westfall posted six saves while playing all 70 minutes. First-year Virginia Hamilton added a defensive save for the Big Red.
Denison (0-2) will open North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Oberlin College at 4:30 p.m.
