Branche ends season at D-III nationals

For the second-consecutive season, Denison's Wallace Branche ended the season at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Branche completed his junior campaign with an 18th-place finish in the triple jump at the national meet hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Branche qualified for the NCAA meet on May 2 at the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship held at the George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio. The Charlotte, North Carolina native successfully defeated his outdoor triple jump title with a combined leap of 47'9.25".

On Saturday afternoon, Branche's best mark came in his second attempt of the preliminaries. The junior finished the event with a combined leap of 46'.

The men's triple jump national championship went to Bridgewater State senior Chris Perry with a top mark of 50'11". Last year's national champion, Jamie Ruginski of Southern Maine, placed second with a final jump of 50'7.50".
