Box Score Denison held a 29-9 advantage in the shot department, but the visiting Wittenberg Tigers made the most of their opportunities in a 3-2 win over the Big Red from Piper Stadium.
The first 35 minutes saw Denison dominate possession, outshooting the Tigers 21-2. Despite the lopsided numbers, the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 at the intermission. Wittenberg actually got on the scoreboard first when Blaine Donnelly fired a shot that was tipped in by Riley Trexler in the 14th minute of play.
Four minutes before halftime, Denison tied the match when Allie Bacon scored off a rebounded save by Tiger goalie Sarah Brownell.

In the 44th minute of play, just five minutes after Trexler's goal, Denison's Elsie Humes tipped in a shot off the stick of Bacon, tying the match at 2-2.
For the next 17 minutes, the teams went go back and forth until the Tigers' Paige Vannerstrom took a shot that was saved by DU goalkeeper Ellen Westfall. Wittenberg's Audrey Coler was there to control the rebounded save and put home the eventual game-winning goal.
In the final nine minutes of regulation, Denison attempted seven penalty corners but none of the set pieces resulted in the equalizer for the home team.
Denison's shot leader was Britta Marden who finished with eight, six of which were on-goal. Bacon and Humes both took five shots apiece. Trexler paced Wittenberg with four shots. DU held a 20-2 advantage in penalty corner attempts. Brownell finished with 14 saves for the Tigers.
