Box Score Kenyon College remained in first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings following a 5-2 win over Denison on Thursday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio.
Denison got a pair of goals from senior Gretta Finney but that wasn't enough to erase the three-goal deficit built by the Ladies. Kenyon got on the board first when Abbey Rosewell scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Shannon Hart in the 12th minute of play. Just 24 seconds later, Hard would score from close range, putting her team up 2-0. Both goals came while Denison was playing shorthanded after a green card penalty on DU's Emily Marlatt.
Seven minutes into the second half, Hart scored her second of three goals in the match. DU got on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute when Lucy Pearsall sent a shot that was redirected into the cage by Finney. Her second goal came in the 58th minute of action and it was of the unassisted variety.
Hart finished the match with a hat trick, her first of the season. Kenyon held a 17-11 lead in shots. Denison goalie Ellen Westfall finished with three saves
Kenyon improves to 9-1 and 6-0 in the NCAC while Denison drops to 5-4 and 4-2 in conference play. The Big Red will look to rebound on Friday, Oct. 2 when they host Transylvania at 6:30 p.m.
