Box Score Denison scored three unanswered goals in the second half, resulting in a 3-1 victory over Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio. Trailing 1-0 at the intermission, the Big Red would score three goals in a span of seven minutes early in the second half, to lock up a critical North Coast Athletic Conference victory.
Kenyon got on the scoreboard first when Shannon Hard punched in an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute of play. The goal was her third of the 2014 season.
Denison goalie Audrey Miller-Foreman would notch three of her four saves in the first half, successfully minimizing the damage while setting up the Big Red for a second half comeback.
Sophomore forward Abby Martone would tie the score at 1-1 in the 39th minute of play when score scored off an assist from Molly Chapman in a short corner situation.
Another penalty corner would lead to the eventual game-winning goal in the 43rd minute when Chloe Dikeou scored via an assist from Sara Hofmann.
The third and final goal for DU would come in the 46th minute when Dikeou took a feed from Britta Marden and deposited the ball in the back of the cage.
Despite being outshot 17-14 and outcornered 9-6, Denison put nine shots on-goal, compared to five for Kenyon.
The win improves DU's record to 5-3 and 5-1 in conference play. It also runs their winning streak to four. The loss drops Kenyon to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the NCAC. Denison will return to action on Friday (Oct. 3) when they host Oberlin at 4 p.m.
