Box Score The Denison women's soccer team picked up its sixth win and fourth shutout of the season following a dominating 7-0 victory at Earlham on Wednesday afternoon in Richmond, Ind.
It took the Big Red less than 15 minutes and just three shot attempts to net their first score of the game. Senior captain Maddy Regan recorded her seventh-career goal at 14:41. Roughly eight minutes later, Regan scored her second goal of the game, this time off an assist by sophomore captain Anne Denz. The senior's second score came at 22:57. Fifty-seven seconds after Regan's second tally, freshman Meg Wozniak found the back of the net off an assist from junior captain Andrea Witte. Wozniak's third goal of the season gave Denison a 3-0 lead at the intermission.
Seven minutes and 16 seconds into the second period, sophomore Isabel Mularoni got into the scoring column with an unassisted tally in the 53 minute. Denison went on to score three more goals over the final 26 minutes to rout the Quakers. Witte logged an unassisted goal in the 65th minute. Nearly six minutes after her fourth goal of the season, Witte picked up her second assist of the game when she provided the helper on Jacquie Graham's third goal of the season at 70:22. DU's final tally came in the 84th minute off the foot of sophomore Naomi Barker.
Regan scored twice on two shots, while Witte finished with a game-high five attempts and four points. Wozniak had a goal on three shots, while Barker and Allison Vilsack each registered two. Big Red goalies Jenny Herold and Amelia Hitchens combined for the shutout. Herold made one stop in 81 minutes, while Hitchens guarded the goal line in the final nine minutes.
Denison dominated the shot category, outshooting Earlham 19-3. The Big Red attempted all three corners of the match and committed 11 of the game's 16 fouls.
DU improves to 6-3 with the win, while the loss drops the Quakers to 3-4-1. Denison opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday in Granville against Allegheny. Match time is slated for 12 p.m.
