Box Score Denison dropped to 1-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play following Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of No. 15 DePauw University from Piper Stadium in Granville.
The contest was scoreless until the 20th minute when DePauw's Paige Henry sent a shot on goal that was saved by Big Red goalie Audrey Miller-Foreman. After the ball ricocheted off Miller-Foreman's pads, DePauw's Laynie Thomas was there to score off the rebound.
The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Tigers until there was 19 minutes remaining in the match. That's when DePauw would score off its second-straight short corner attempt. Addie Ball would send in the corner to Maddy Burds who fired a shot that was re-directed into the cage by Henry.
Over the final 15 minutes of action, DU would take four penalty corners and generate three shots, but none would get by Tiger goalie Maggie Steele.
DePauw held a 12-5 advantage in the shot department and the two teams tied with 12 penalty corner attempts, apiece. Miller-Foreman posted five saves in the cage for DU, while Molly Chapman added one defensive save.
Henry paced DePauw with five shots while Steele ended with one save.
Denison falls to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC. The Tigers improve to 5-1 and 1-1 in conference play. DU will return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 17) when they host Ohio Wesleyan at 6:30 p.m.
