The Denison men's tennis team finished its annual spring break trip with a 2-2 record following a 7-2 victory over Occidental on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif. With the win, the Big Red return to Granville with a 6-4 record, while the Tigers fall to 1-9.
Andrew Marczak and Casey Cempre improved to 8-2 at second doubles following an 8-3 victory, while Jeffrey LoDuca and Jackson O'Gorman-Bean's 8-2 decision upped their record to 6-1 and extended their winning streak to four-straight. Juan Guerra and Grant Veltman saw their six-match winning streak come to an end after ending up on the wrong side of an 8-5 score at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, DU won flights two through six to secure the 7-2 win over Occidental. Veltman snapped a six-match slide with a win at fourth singles, while Marczak and O'Gorman-Bean each picked up their 13th singles win at the second and fifth flights, respectively. Cempre is now 11-5 on the year after scoring a three-set win at No. 3 singles, while Owen Smith ended a three-match skid with a 6-2, 6-4 decision at sixth singles.
Denison (6-4) returns to action on Tuesday when they host Ohio Wesleyan in their North Coast Athletic Conference opener. Match time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
