Box Score Jordan Holmes and Gretchen Staubach each scored 16 points as Denison picked up victory number 17 on the road at Oberlin, 60-51.
With the score tied at 44-44 with just over eight minutes to play, Denison would turn to Staubach would go on to score eight of her 16 points down the stretch. Over the final 8:30 of the game, DU outscored Oberlin 16-7 to move back into a tie for second-place in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings at 9-4.
Staubach was 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line for 16 points. She also finished with five rebounds. Meanwhile, Holmes played all 40 minutes and was 8-of-14. She also matched her season average with 14 rebounds and in the process broke Denison's single-season record for rebounds. The previous record of 296 rebounds had been held by Robin Jones since the 1986-87 season. Holmes has 299 rebounds with at least four games to play in her rookie season.
Junior guard Candise Love added 12 points in 35 minutes but also set a new career-high with eight assists. In 18 minutes off the bench, Mary Margaret Habel finished with 10 points while connecting on 4-of-8 shots from the field.
Oberlin got an outstanding effort Christina Marquette who scored a game-high 21 points and finished with 16 rebounds (8 offensive, 8 defensive). Marquette was 8-for-17 from the field and also hit two of her team's seven 3-point field goals. Lindsay Bernhardt chipped in 11 points while Eleanor van Buren followed with eight points.
The Denison bench outscored Oberlin 14-4, and the Big Red tallied 34 of its 60 points in the paint. As a team, DU shot 42 percent while the Yeowomen connected at a 30 percent clip.
The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kenyon for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
