Box Score DePauw's Maggie Campbell scored a pair of first half goals for the Tigers and that would be enough to send Denison to its first loss of 2013, 2-0, from Greencastle, Ind.
The Tigers entered the match ranked 16th in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll and Campbell got her team on the board in the eighth minute of play when she scored off an assist by Chelsea Cutler.
Less than a minute before halftime, Campbell would score again, this time on an unassisted goal that gave her squad a 2-0 lead that would hold.
Denison was outshot 10-7 but did manage to attempt nine penalty corners compared to just six for DePauw. DU's lone shot on goal was taken by Alex B. Berman in the first half. That shot was saved by DePauw goalie Maggie Steele. Berman led Denison in shots with three while Big Red goalkeeper Laura Campbell finished with five saves.
Denison drops to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference while DePauw moves to 3-3 and 2-0 in the NCAC. The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 18) when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a 4:30 p.m. start against Wittenberg.
