Nuzzo leads DU past Terriers

Serafina Nuzzo scored 23 points and added six steals as the Big Red rolled to a 66-44 victory over Hiram College from Livingston Gym.  The win marks the third-straight for Denison who improves to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Nuzzo had the hot hand for the Big Red from the start.  The senior scored 11 point in the first half while going 4-of-7 from the floor.  In the second half she connected of 5-of-7 from the field and her 3-pointer with 8:06 to play moved her into fifth place on the Denison all-time scoring list, passing Carolyn Simpson with 1,261 career points.

In addition to Nuzzo's big day, fellow senior Kyli Parker came off the bench with 10 points and three assists while going 4-of-9.  Kinsey Bryant-Lees also chipped in nine points off the bench while Mary Margaret Habel scored nine points to go along with five rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

DU shot 44 percent from the floor (24-of-55) and was 9-for-21 from beyond the arc.  They outrebounded the Terriers 34-24 while forcing Hiram into 24 turnovers.

Hiram was led in scoring by Calysia Smyers who finished with 11 points.  Christy Griffin chipped in 10 points.  The loss drops Hiram's record to 6-13 and 1-9 in the NCAC.

Denison will return to action on Tuesday (Jan. 29) when they travel to The College of Wooster for a 7:30 p.m. tip-ff.  The Big Red's next home game will be on Friday night (Feb. 1) when they host Kenyon College.  Denison's senior class will be honored prior to the start of Friday's game against Kenyon.
