Box Score Joy Doucette's goal in the 87th minute sent the Earlham Quakers to a 1-0 victory over Denison on Wednesday afternoon in Richmond, Ind.
The two squads mustered just three shots a piece in the opening 45 minute of play, resulting in a scoreless contest at the break. The offense finally showed up in the second half as the two teams combined for 21 shots.
After playing a scoreless match for more than 86 minutes, the Quakers finally broke the scoreless tie when Doucette scored on her sixth shot of the game at 86:51. Earlham held a 15-12 advantage in shots, including a 6-4 edge in attempts on net. The Big Red attempted four corners compared to only one by the Quakers.
Libbie Randolph and Joy Dennis paced the DU attack with three shots each, while Jocelyn Festle had two shots attempts. DU keeper Andrea Karl made five saves, while Earlham goalie Ashley Johnson stopped all four shots on net.
The Big Red falls to 2-6-1 on the year, while the Quakers improve to 4-4. Denison returns to action on Saturday when they host Allegheny at 12 p.m.
