Box Score Kenyon College handed the Denison Big Red its first North Coast Athletic Conference loss of 2012 by a final score of 3-1 on Thursday in Gambier, Ohio.
The Ladies found the back of the cage in the third minute of play and scored again five minutes before halftime thanks to Julie Freedman's fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, Kenyon built its lead to 3-1 after a goal from Sammy Johnston in the 44th minute.
Denison wouldn't get on the scoreboard until the 63rd minute when Catie Merrick converted a penalty stroke for her fourth goal of the campaign.
The home team outshot Denison 16-7 and out-cornered them 12-5. DU goalie Brittany Benson finished with seven saves in 70 minutes of action.
With the loss, DU's record dips to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the NCAC. Kenyon's record improves to 4-2 and 4-0 in league play. Denison will look to rebound this Saturday when they host DePauw at 12 p.m. from Piper Stadium.
